Brian DoldBrian Dold moved to San Francisco in 2000. Armed with a Masters in Social Work, his career to that point had been providing services to homeless families. Asked one day by a friend what his passion was, he answered "vintage t-shirts". He started going to school at night to learn graphic design and made the leap in 2004 to quit his job and try to make his living making t-shirts.
Brian hooked up with his business partner in late 2005 and started Loyal Army with 300 dollars. His experiences as a social worker has influenced his designs by reinforcing self esteem, friendship, and social responsibility. Within 2 years the line was being sold in 3000 stores and over 2000 t-shirts a day were being made in Loyal Army's San Francisco factory.
At a certain point, Brian needed to make a decision whether he wanted Loyal Brian designs over a dozen original t-shirt graphics a week and the line is sold in major chains and premier boutiques all over the world. In 2009 Loyal Army shifted its model and has been opening retail stores. Currently, Loyal Army has 3 retail stores and has signed a lease to open its San Francisco flagship store in Spring 2010.
